How to know your basal metabolism

One can determine one’s basal metabolism by calculating the basal metabolic rate, which can be calculated from pulse pressure and pulse rate, but which is subject to a certain degree of error, or simply determine the degree of hyperthyroidism by basal metabolic rate. Basal metabolic rate can be calculated simply from pulse pressure and pulse rate, and is measured repeatedly in the early morning, fasting, and while lying down. Commonly used formulas are: basal metabolic rate (%) = (pulse rate + pulse pressure) – 111 or basal metabolic rate (%) = 0.75 x (pulse rate + 0.74 x pulse pressure) – 72, where pulse pressure = systolic – systolic blood pressure. This calculation has an error of up to 10% in more than half of patients and is not applicable to patients with arrhythmias. A basal metabolic rate of +20% to 30% is considered mild hyperthyroidism, +30% to 60% is considered moderate hyperthyroidism, and +60% or more is considered severe hyperthyroidism. Patients with abnormal basal metabolism should go to the hospital in time and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
