The recovery time will vary significantly depending on the degree of injury to the Achilles tendon. If it is just a general strain of the Achilles tendon that has not caused a rupture, it can generally recover in 2-3 weeks. If it is a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon, then it will take at least two to three months to recover. Also, the treatment options are different for different levels of injury. If it is just a general Achilles tendon strain, pay attention to rest, avoid long distance walking and strenuous exercise for a while, and spray some local aerosol for swelling and pain. If it is a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon, surgical repair should be considered, and post-operative plaster fixation is needed for 4-6 weeks. After surgery, the wound should be changed and the stitches should be removed two weeks after surgery. After the cast is removed, exercise gradually and avoid too rough exercise to prevent re-rupture of the Achilles tendon.
