Azithromycin can be taken with medicines containing licorice infusion, but it should be done under the supervision of a doctor. Azithromycin tablets are indicated for the following infections caused by sensitive bacteria: bronchitis, pneumonia and other lower respiratory tract infections. The indications for licorice infusion are chronic hypoadrenocorticism, bronchial asthma, bronchitis, pharyngitis, and so on. Azithromycin tablets and licorice infusion can have a synergistic effect when combined, so these two can be taken together. Taking azithromycin tablets can produce gastrointestinal reactions, such as nausea and vomiting, but also allergic reactions, patients may experience skin itching, rashes and even anaphylaxis; and licorice infusion overdose can cause hypertension and edema, which usually subsides after stopping the drug. Patients should take azithromycin and medicines containing licorice infusion under the guidance of a physician’s consultation, and actively consult a doctor if they feel unwell to avoid aggravating their condition.
