Proper understanding of short-acting oral contraceptives and their non-contraceptive uses

The contraceptive effect of short-acting oral contraceptives is well known and is the most ideal of all contraceptive methods, but due to misunderstanding and blind fear of hormonal drugs, many patients would rather take emergency contraceptives several times than accept taking short-acting contraceptives as a contraceptive method. In fact, among the many types of oral contraceptives, the short-acting oral contraceptive pill is the one with the lowest hormone content, the fastest metabolism and the least side effects, and because of its “short” duration of effectiveness, it needs to be taken continuously for 21 days a month to maintain the concentration of the drug and the contraceptive effect. In contrast, long-acting and emergency contraceptives have a very high estrogen and progestin content, which can be several times or even dozens of times that of short-acting pills, with very high side effects, so as to achieve a strong long-term and emergency contraceptive effect. In other words, contraceptives that need to be taken less often and conveniently have high side effects, and most patients will experience irregular vaginal bleeding, contraceptive failure, or even irreversible endocrine disorder syndrome after taking them (especially emergency contraceptives), while contraceptives that need to be taken daily and are relatively inconvenient have minimal side effects and rare side effects. Therefore, if people choose to take oral contraceptives as a form of contraception, it is best to choose short-acting oral contraceptives. At present, the more commonly used short-acting contraceptives in clinical practice are Dareng-35, Eusyn, Mafulon, and Mintin even. It is recommended that you take them under the guidance of your gynecologist. In addition to contraception, short-acting oral contraceptives can also be used to treat and prevent many other diseases, as follows: 1. treat and improve menstrual irregularities, such as dysfunctional uterine bleeding, excessive menstruation, ovulatory bleeding, etc., and reduce iron deficiency anemia 2. reduce the incidence of pelvic inflammatory disease and ectopic pregnancy 3. reduce the incidence of endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer 4. treat functional ovarian cysts 5. treat dysmenorrhea Endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, etc. We hope more patients will understand the health benefits of oral short-acting contraceptives, use them correctly and fully enjoy the benefits of short-acting contraceptives and non-contraception.
