Severe reflux after gallstone surgery may be due to postoperative complications, gastric pyloric relaxation, gastrointestinal dysfunction and so on. 1. Postoperative complications: after gallstone surgery to remove the gallbladder, bile can no longer be stored in the gallbladder, and a large amount of bile flows into the duodenum, which is adjacent to the stomach and can easily lead to bile reflux into the stomach. 2. Gastric pyloric relaxation: The common bile duct opens into the duodenum, which is connected to the stomach above the duodenum. Under normal physiological conditions, the pyloric sphincter has a certain degree of tension, which can prevent the reflux of bile and pancreatic juice. When there is gastric pyloric relaxation, bile and pancreatic fluid can reflux into the stomach. 3. Gastrointestinal dysfunction: When gastrointestinal dysfunction occurs, it may cause slowing down of gastrointestinal peristalsis, and the bile in the intestines cannot flow downward smoothly, which may lead to severe reflux. If a patient develops symptoms of severe reflux after surgery, he/she should go to the hospital in time to clarify the cause of the disease and take appropriate treatment under the doctor’s guidance.
