Is it normal to have stomach pain in early pregnancy

Stomach pain in early pregnancy may be caused by physiological reasons, such as pelvic congestion, which is normal. It may also be caused by pathological reasons, such as ectopic pregnancy, preeclampsia, embryo stops developing and so on, which is abnormal.
1. Physiological reasons: women may experience physiological stomach pain in early pregnancy due to pelvic congestion, which is usually a vague discomfort and will not affect daily life, work and sleep.
2. Pathologic causes:
(1) ectopic pregnancy: ectopic pregnancy refers to the fertilization of the egg outside the uterine cavity due to reproductive system diseases or injuries, etc., the patient mostly takes menopause, abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding as the main symptoms, and the stomach pain in early pregnancy may be a symptom of ectopic pregnancy.
(2) Pre-eclampsia: Pre-eclampsia refers to the occurrence of a small amount of vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, followed by paroxysmal lower abdominal pain or low back pain. The causes of preeclampsia include fetal factors, maternal factors, environmental factors, paternal factors, etc. Belly pain in early pregnancy may be a symptom of preeclampsia.
(3) Embryonic arrest: Embryonic arrest is a disease in which the embryo dies in the early or middle stage of pregnancy, and all or part of the embryo’s tissues remain in the uterine cavity and are not expelled naturally. Causes of embryonic arrest include infections, endocrine abnormalities and so on. Patients may have clinical symptoms such as breast swelling and pain, abdominal pain, etc. Stomach pain in early pregnancy may be a symptom of embryonic arrest.
