  Postoperatively, the patient wears a brace that is set at 0 to 30 degrees of extension and flexion.
  A knee pad is placed under the braced limb to keep the knee in a comfortable position of natural flexion.
  1 day after surgery
  Ankle pump exercises: slow, firm ankle flexion and extension movements, held at the limit for a few seconds, then repeated.
  20 to 30 reps per set.
  5 sets per day
  Quadriceps isometric contraction: supine position, active downward pressure on the knee joint, holding the thigh muscle contracted for 5 seconds and relaxed for 3 seconds.
  20 to 30 reps per set.
  5 sets per day
  Straight Leg Raise: With the knee extended, raise the leg straight to a 30 reading position with the hip flexed, and hold this position until exhaustion for one rep.
  5 to 10 reps per set.
  3 sets per day
  Early bed mobility: stand out of bed without weight bearing on the affected limb.
  5 to 10 minutes each time.

  2 days after surgery
  Ankle pump exercises, quadriceps isometric contraction exercises, straight leg raising exercises as in postoperative day 1
  Push the patella: push the patella up and down, avoiding the wound (the patient can feel a slight localized soreness and warmth)
  5 to 10 minutes each time
  2 times a day
  Walking indoors for about 10 minutes at the same time
  2 times a day
  3 days after surgery
  Same as 2 days after surgery
