The practice of brewing Sheng Wei Drink is to wash ginseng, maitake and schizandra and soak them in water for half an hour to one hour, then put them into a casserole dish, boil them over high heat and then cook them for half an hour over moderate heat and pour out the broth, then add an equal amount of water and continue to cook them for half an hour over high heat and mix the two broths together, and then take them in two portions. Sheng Wei Drink is a tonic formula with the effects of benefiting qi and generating fluid (promoting fluid production by tonifying qi), astringing yin and stopping sweating (astringing yin fluid to reduce sweating). It is suitable for patients suffering from qi and yin injuries, such as tiredness, shortness of breath, laziness, excessive sweating and fatigue, dry throat and thirst, dry and red tongue with little moss, weak pulse, prolonged coughing and weak qi, thirst and spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime which is aggravated by the slightest movement), and so on. It should be noted that Sheng Vein Drink contains ginseng and therefore should not be taken together with Chinese medicines such as quinine. It is recommended to take the medicine under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner or a Chinese medicine practitioner to avoid the adverse effects caused by self-medication.
