Both umol/L’s and mg/dL are units of creatinine, and because different hospitals may use different measurement methods, the units selected are also different. The conversion between umol/L and mg/dL is actually very simple: 88.4 umol/L = 1 mg/dL, which means that the value of umol/L is divided by 88.4 to get the value of mg/dL. So when you get the report card, you don’t have to struggle with it, you just need to simply convert it and then you can compare it with each other. If there is an increase in creatinine, it is often seen in chronic renal failure, in addition to patients with hyperthyroidism and acromegaly.
