Family with a child with epilepsy

Epilepsy is a great opportunity for people with epilepsy.
The most important thing is that it is a common pediatric disease, with a prevalence of about 3 to 6 per cent, mostly in infancy and childhood. The actual fact is that you will be able to get a lot more than just a few of the most popular and popular items.
Do not seek medical help if you have a medical condition.
Children with epilepsy are not exactly the same as adults, some can heal on their own by a certain age, and some can be easily controlled by taking medication. This is why some unrealistic advertisements and propaganda mislead many patients, and the so-called “ancestral remedies”, pure Chinese herbal preparations, and drugs without side effects have harmed many people, so be sure to go to a regular hospital specialist clinic. The actual fact is that you will be able to get a lot more than just a couple of days to get a lot more than just a couple of days. It is a big no-no to stop, change, or increase or decrease drugs indiscriminately.
What to tell your doctor when you see him/her.
The physician’s diagnosis of epilepsy depends on careful questioning of the patient. Parents should inform the patient in detail about the process of the offense, such as the trigger for the offense, the time, how the offense was committed, and even imitate it for the doctor, the situation after the offense, whether shouting and stimulation can be terminated or whether there is a reaction, etc. There are patients with epilepsy and mental abnormalities in the family, whether the child has a previous history of encephalitis and trauma, whether walking and speaking are normal, etc.
What tests should be done for epilepsy.
First of all, an EEG should be done. EEG is critical and harmless, and is needed for clear diagnosis, selection of drugs, judgment of the condition, and prediction of recurrence. The EEG can be done several times or for a long time, and about 70-80% of patients can be found to be abnormal. Therefore, if the EEG is normal, it does not exclude epilepsy, so it is difficult for the doctor to detect epileptiform discharges and delay the patient. In addition, an abnormal EEG is not necessarily epilepsy. 0.3% to 3% of the normal population has epileptiform discharges on the EEG, but no epilepsy in their lifetime. It is important to take care of the EEG: wash your hair the day before the test, eat a good breakfast on the day of the test, and avoid excitatory drugs or drinks. Do not stop the antiepileptic drugs you are taking privately.
Other tests are chosen according to the condition to help further clarify the cause.
What to look for in epilepsy treatment.
Once diagnosed, treat as early as possible. Medications are the main treatment for epilepsy. Use the medication under the guidance of your doctor and take it on time. Choose drugs according to the type of seizure, first one drug treatment, gradually increase the amount. Read the drug instructions in detail, find out the adverse reactions of drugs in time and contact with the doctor. Do not dare to use the drugs when you see the toxic side effects of the drug instructions. Regular follow-up examinations, check blood routine and liver function. After the symptoms are controlled, you still need to use the drug for 2 to 4 years, and then gradually reduce the drug. Do not stop and reduce the medication without permission when the symptoms are under control, otherwise it will lead to recurrence and aggravation of the disease.
In daily life, parents should pay attention to the child’s diet, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and eat more foods rich in high protein and phospholipids, such as beans, lean meat, eggs, fish, milk, etc., to help the recovery of brain function and reduce the number of epileptic seizures. Drink less water, eat less salt, eat less greasy, fatty and stimulating foods. Prohibit the consumption of alcohol and limit the intake of stimulating substances such as cigarettes, tea and coffee. Develop good habits: live a regular life, ensure adequate sleep and rest, avoid excessive excitement and fatigue, avoid dangerous activities such as climbing, swimming, diving, mountain climbing, rock climbing, gliding, parachuting, surfing, etc.; sports activities can be performed under protected conditions.
What to do if you have a sudden seizure.
In case of sudden seizures, do not be nervous, most of them can be relieved by themselves.
  (1) Take a supine position, remove oral secretions, keep the airway open, avoid falls and bruises.
  (2) Do not forcibly pry open the teeth when they are tightly closed, so that they do not fall out and cause asphyxia when breathing resumes.
  (3) Stimulate the human middle point to terminate the seizure.
  (4) Carefully observe the child’s performance so that he or she can describe the condition to the physician.
  (5) If the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes quickly call for help from the emergency center.
  Building confidence to overcome epilepsy.
Epilepsy is not only a physical disease, but also a psychological disease. Many children with epilepsy and their families have low self-esteem and fear, and are afraid to contact society for fear of being discriminated against. In fact, most epilepsy can be cured or self-healed, and many epileptics can live and work like normal people, and even get excellent results. The day of February 14 is World Epilepsy Day, so let’s reach out your hand and offer your love to help children with epilepsy to get out of the shadow of epilepsy and have a beautiful tomorrow.
