Yellow mucus in stool may be the symptom of intestinal flora imbalance, bacterial enteritis, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal tumor and so on.
1. Intestinal flora imbalance: harmful bacteria in the intestinal tract multiply more, causing diarrhea, due to the mucus secreted by the intestinal mucosa increases the discharge of yellow mucus stools.
2. Bacterial enteritis: Bacterial infection of the intestinal tract causes increased permeability of the intestinal mucosa and increased secretion of mucous fluid, which results in yellow mucus in the stool, usually accompanied by abdominal pain and diarrhea.
3. Inflammatory bowel disease: including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, due to intestinal mucosal damage, will also discharge yellow mucus stool, accompanied by diarrhea.
4. Intestinal tumor: invasion of cancer cells to intestinal tissues causes increased mucus secretion by intestinal mucosa, resulting in yellow mucus in stool.
It is suggested that patients with abnormal stools should consult doctor as soon as possible to find out the cause and give targeted treatment.
