What is the level of glycosylated hemoglobin 7.0?

Glycated hemoglobin 7.0% is slightly higher than the normal range. It is recommended to consult a doctor to clarify the cause of elevated glycated hemoglobin and treat the cause. Glycated hemoglobin reflects the average blood glucose level of the examined patient in the past 2~3 months, and is not affected by an occasional increase or decrease in blood glucose. The normal value of glycosylated hemoglobin is 4% to 6%. Glycated hemoglobin is one of the important indicators for the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, and also an important indicator to guide the adjustment of glucose-lowering treatment program. Glycated hemoglobin should be controlled to <7.0% in general adults; <6.5% in young people with short duration of disease, no complications or comorbidities, and low risk of hypoglycemia; and <8.0% in people with long duration of disease, history of cardiovascular disease, or very high risk of cardiovascular disease. It is recommended that patients with a glycosylated hemoglobin of 7.0% should consult their local endocrinologist to determine the severity of their disease.
