Proper posture for nebulization in adults

The principle of nebulized inhalation therapy is that the medication is dispersed into solid particles through a nebulizing device, which are suspended in the gas and enter into the lungs and the respiratory tract, and finally have a therapeutic effect. For adults, nebulization can be done in the side-lying, standing, semi-sitting, or sitting position, as lying down may result in wastage of the medication or accidental inhalation, such as choking on the windpipe. In addition, if the patient coughs frequently during nebulization, the nebulized inhalation should be stopped until the patient gradually enters a stable state and then restarted. Each nebulization inhalation usually lasts 10-15 minutes, and can be performed 2-3 times a day. It should be noted that half an hour before nebulization inhalation, you can drink a small amount of water, but try not to eat, in order to avoid airway irritation caused by the medicine during the process of nebulization inhalation and resulting in vomiting.
