There is no absolute dietary contraindication for anemia, but patients should avoid strong tea, coffee and other beverages, foods containing too much fat, and spicy and stimulating foods.
1. Strong tea, coffee: coffee and strong tea will affect the absorption of blood-forming materials, thus aggravating the degree of anemia, so patients with anemia should reduce the consumption of strong tea and coffee.
2. Foods with too much fat content: some anemia patients may have digestive symptoms, such as indigestion, decreased appetite, foreign body sensation in swallowing, etc. Eating foods with too much fat content may cause further aggravation of anemia-related digestive symptoms.
3. Spicy and stimulating food: spicy and stimulating food may stimulate the mucous membrane of the digestive tract, resulting in anemia patients with absorption of hematopoietic raw materials, aggravating anemia.
Anemia patients should also try to avoid eating cold and rough food to prevent the aggravation of digestive symptoms. Normally, they can eat more light and nutritious food, such as lean meat, eggs, milk, fresh fruits and vegetables. If the patient is combined with other diseases, he/she should follow the doctor’s advice to develop corresponding good dietary habits.
Diagnosis and treatment of specific causes of anemia should be carried out under the guidance of physicians.
