The mandibular lymph nodes could not be palpated and the postauricular lymph nodes in the neck could be palpated due to the very thin subcutaneous tissue. The lymph nodes behind the ear are the size of a soybean and are painless and very mobile when pressed. Lymph nodes in other parts of the neck are not palpable, and if they are palpable, they are caused by inflammation of the lymph nodes. The manifestation is redness, swelling and pain in the lymph nodes, and there may be an increase in body temperature throughout the body. It is commonly due to inflammation inside the mouth, such as gingivitis and gum abscess, resulting in swollen lymph nodes in the lower jaw, which need to be treated with oral antibiotics such as cefixime, and gargling with a solution containing metronidazole. If the gums have abscesses and fluctuating sensations, the abscesses need to be cut open and drained under local anesthesia to heal more quickly.
