What to do if your cornea bleeds

There are no blood vessels in the cornea of the human eye, so the cornea does not bleed. Bleeding can occur in the white conjunctiva of the eye, or in the deep iris of the eye. If the iris bleeds, it is often related to trauma, which causes rupture of the iris blood vessels leading to bleeding. If the amount of bleeding is small, it can be absorbed on its own, but if the amount is large, surgery is needed to clean the bleeding. Bleeding in the white conjunctiva of the eye can cause bleeding to accumulate under the conjunctiva, also called subconjunctival hemorrhage. Subconjunctival hemorrhage does not affect vision and is painless and itchy. Clinically, it is mainly observed without any treatment, similar to skin bruise, and can be absorbed slowly.
