What is fascia?

Fascia is the fibrous connective tissue attached to the surface of muscle. 1. Fascia is located on the surface of muscle, encircling the bone joints or muscles, tendons and other soft tissues, has a protective and restrictive effect on bones and muscles, composed of collagen fibrous protein and elastic fibers. 2. Fascia can avoid the excessive wear and tear of muscle fibers, but also to protect the body’s soft tissues, it is divided into superficial and deep fascia. Superficial fascia is a fatty membrane structure between the dermis and the periosteum; deep fascia consists of dense connective tissue, which covers the whole body and wraps the muscles and vascular nerves. If the body is overloaded for a long period of time, such as through labor or exercise, chronic injury to the fascia may occur, resulting in aseptic inflammation and localized pain.
