There is usually no significant pain when the stent is removed after ureteral flexible lithotripsy.
Ureteral flexible mirror is mainly used for the treatment of kidney stones (<2cm), through the urethra, bladder, to the ureter after placing a safety guide wire, under the guidance of the safety guide wire to place a flexible mirror sheath, under direct vision into the ureteral flexible mirror, along with the guide wire into the renal pelvis or calyceal and to find the stone.
Holmium laser is introduced into the fiber optic to pulverize the stone into small fragments that can be easily discharged. Larger stones can be removed with a basket, and a ureteral stent is placed, which is usually removed about 4 weeks after the stone surgery.
When the ureteral stent is removed, local anesthesia is given and the stent tube is removed through a cystoscope. The procedure is short and the patient’s pain is usually mild and tolerable.
Patients who need to have the stent removed after ureteral flexible lithotripsy need to be operated by a specialized physician.
