Red dates and split logs in water are not recommended to drink every day. Red jujube, or “jujube”, is sweet in flavor, warm in nature, and belongs to the spleen and stomach meridians. It is used to replenish the center of the body and benefit the qi (treating qi deficiency by replenishing the spleen), nourish the blood and tranquilize the mind, and moderate the effects of medicinal properties. It is mainly used for the deficiency of central qi (weak spleen and stomach qi), tiredness and fatigue caused by spleen and stomach weakness, loose food (thin and unformed feces), blood deficiency and atrophy. Split Heart Wood has a bitter, astringent taste and flat nature, and belongs to the spleen and kidney meridians. It has the efficacy of astringing essence and shrinking urine, stopping bleeding and diarrhea and dysentery, and is mainly used for treating spermatorrhea, frequent urination, leakage of menstruation (menstruation that is too heavy or drips more than one drop), subluxation of bands, diarrhea, dysentery, and other conditions. When there is weakness of the spleen and stomach, resulting in tiredness and fatigue, less food and loose stools, etc., you can choose jujube treatment; when there is spermatorrhea, urinary frequency and leakage, leakage of urine, etc., you can take the wood of distraction treatment. However, the medicinal efficacy of Chinese medicine in water is limited, and cannot replace the medication to treat the disease. Because red dates help dampness and heat, phlegm-damp body should not be served; while the heartwood is prone to chest tightness and nausea as well as abdominal distension and diarrhea and other adverse reactions, so the two are not recommended to drink water every day. If the patient is not feeling well, it is recommended to go to the hospital and follow the doctor’s instructions to take medication.
