Herbal remedies for arrhythmia

Various causes of arrhythmia can be identified and treated with reference to “palpitation” in Chinese medicine, and the prescriptions for treating this disease include Gui Spleen Tang, An Shen Ding Zhi Pill, and Tian Wang Tian Xin Xin Dan. Palpitation caused by insufficiency of heart blood (insufficient blood in the heart) can be treated with Gui Spleen Tang, which is characterized by palpitation, shortness of breath, dizziness, forgetfulness and insomnia, tiredness and fatigue, and poor appetite and nausea (lack of appetite and reduced food intake). Palpitation due to heart deficiency and timidity can be treated with Tranquilizing Spirit Tingzhi Pill, which is characterized by palpitation and restlessness, difficulty in falling asleep, waking up easily with dreams, fearfulness and frightfulness, and restlessness in sitting and lying down. Palpitation due to heart yang deficiency can be treated with Gui Zhi Gan Cao Long Bone and Oyster Tang combined with Ginseng and Forsythia Soup. Symptoms include palpitation and restlessness, shortness of breath, chest tightness, coldness of limbs, and paleness of the face. Palpitation due to yin deficiency and fire exuberance (deficiency of yin essence in the body and hyperactivity of deficiency fire) can be treated with Tianwang Xinzhu Dan and Zhu Sha An Shen Pill. Symptoms include restlessness and insomnia, palpitation and easy to be frightened, five disturbed hearts and heat (heat in the hearts of the hands and the feet, and self-consciousness of heat in the heart and chest), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, and the sweating stops after waking up), and dryness of the mouth. Palpitation due to water-drinking overriding the heart can be treated with Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang, which is characterized by palpitation and dizziness, shortness of urine, thirst, cold limbs, chest tightness and epigastric congestion. Palpitation caused by phlegm-fire disturbing the heart can be treated with Huanglian Wengguan Tang, which is characterized by palpitation with intermittent onset and discontinuation, chest tightness and irritability, insomnia and excessive dreaming, and susceptibility to shock. The adverse reactions and contraindications of the above prescription are not clear, the occurrence of arrhythmia and other discomforts are recommended to go to the hospital in a timely manner, and standardize the use of medication under the guidance of a professional physician.
