Is it normal to have hard lumps in your breasts that don’t hurt?

The breast is usually hemispherical, soft and lump-free. If there is a lump in the breast, especially if it is hard, it is abnormal, whether or not it is accompanied by pain. A lump in the breast with a hard texture, poorly defined borders, poor mobility, orange peel-like changes and dimple signs on the surface of the lump, ultrasound examination, suggesting a lump with rich blood flow, aspect ratio greater than one, crabfoot-like changes on the border, and enlarged axillary lymph nodes and destruction of lymphatic structures, with an imaging score greater than three, is recommended for a puncture biopsy. Such a lump is generally considered to be a malignant lump with a higher probability. If a lump is present in the breast with clear borders, good mobility, oval shape, and tough texture, it is generally more likely to be a fibroadenoma. If a breast lump is painful, it is more likely to be an inflammatory lump or a lump caused by breast enlargement. Regardless of whether the breast lump is accompanied by pain, it is recommended to go to the hospital in a timely manner and perform the necessary ultrasound and mammography to clarify the diagnosis so as not to delay the treatment.
