The ventilation of the lungs is primarily the amount of gas that enters and leaves the lungs per unit of time. There are some clinical indicators for this, the main one being the resting ventilation per minute. Normal values are around 6000-8000 ml for adult males and 4000-4500 ml for adult females. Maximum ventilation is around 100-106L for adult men and 80-85L for adult women. The ventilation of the lungs is related to gender, age and height, as well as to the surface area of the individual, and also to the movement of the body’s own respiratory muscles, which varies from person to person.
