Hypertensive patients are hospitalized to check blood biochemistry, echocardiography and selective items to identify secondary hypertension. 1. Basic items: routinely need to measure and monitor blood pressure, check fasting blood sugar, cholesterol, urea, creatinine and other biochemical indicators, blood routine, urinalysis, electrocardiogram and so on. 2. Recommended items: 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography, carotid artery ultrasound, blood homocysteine, urine protein quantification, funduscopy, chest X-ray, pulse wave conduction velocity, and ankle-arm blood pressure index, etc., in order to be used for hypertension risk stratification. 3. Selected items: For patients suspected of having secondary hypertension, the following tests should also be performed on an as-needed basis: plasma renin activity, blood and urine aldosterone, cortisol, and catecholamines, renal and adrenal ultrasound, CT, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), and sleep apnea monitoring. Hypertension is a multifactorial and complex disease, and often causes different degrees of damage to the heart, brain, kidneys and other organs, so it is necessary to carry out multi-system and multi-item examinations to provide the basis for the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, and it is recommended to follow the doctor’s instructions for the diagnosis and treatment.
