What are the symptoms of Yang deficiency in the middle Jiao and what medicines are used to regulate it?

Yang deficiency in the middle jiao may present with symptoms such as abdominal distension, diarrhea, vomiting, and fear of cold, which can be regulated by oral administration of traditional Chinese medicines such as Radix Rehmanniae Pill and Xiao Jian Zhong Tang. Yang deficiency in the middle Jiao can lead to impaired transport and digestion functions of the spleen and stomach, and therefore clinical symptoms such as abdominal distension, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, fear of cold, vomiting of water, and poor appetite are often manifested. Radix Rehmanniae Pill, composed of Radix Rehmanniae (Prepared), Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Stir-fried), Radix et Rhizoma Ginger, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae. It has the effect of warming the middle and strengthening the spleen. It is used for cold pain in the epigastrium (feeling cold pain in the stomach and abdomen) caused by coldness in the spleen and stomach (weak and cold spleen and stomach), vomiting and diarrhea, and lack of warmth in the hands and feet. Xiao Jian Zhong Tang (小建中汤) is used for treating deficiency and coldness in the middle jiao, and disharmony between the liver and spleen (the liver and spleen failing to work in harmony). Symptoms include constricted (spasmodic, convulsive) pain in the abdomen, a preference for warmth and pressure, fatigue (mental exhaustion, physical weakness), and deficiency and timidity with little qi; or palpitations in the heart, restlessness caused by deficiency vexation (annoyance caused by deficiency heat in the body), and a colorless face. Xiao Jian Zhong Tang should not be used if there is vomiting or fullness in the middle of the body; it is not recommended to use for stomach and epigastric pain due to Yin deficiency (deficiency of Yin essence in the body, resulting in hyperactivity of deficiency fire).
