What to do if the labial tether is too low

Low lip ties are commonly seen in young children, and a few are seen in adults, and can be treated surgically. The treatment method is related to the age and whether the function is affected. Generally, no special treatment is needed for low upper lip tie in young children under 6 years old; if the low condition still exists after 6 years old and affects the normal function, surgical treatment is recommended.1. No treatment needed: Children under 6 years old with low lip tie can be observed first, and if it does not affect the function, no treatment is needed. As the child grows older, the alveolar bone will develop and the teeth will gradually erupt, the labial tether will gradually recede, and the position may gradually rise and leave the alveolar ridge to the normal position. 2. Surgical treatment: If the labial tether is still too low when the child is over 6 years old, and it affects the closure of the two newly erupted incisors, i.e. the middle gap between the incisors, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for labial tethering surgery. If the labial tether is too low, it is recommended to choose whether or not to treat it surgically according to the age to avoid the normal function being affected.
