Can dermatomyositis be cured?

Dermatomyositis is very difficult to cure, with active treatment, about 75% of patients can recover well, but easy to recur. Dermatomyositis is an autoimmune disease that involves the skin and transverse striated muscle, usually manifesting as both skin and muscle lesions, or a single lesion. Its pathogenesis may be related to autoimmunity, infection, tumor, genetics and so on. Glucocorticosteroids, such as methylprednisolone, and immunosuppressive agents, such as methotrexate and cyclosporine, are most commonly used clinically. Glucocorticosteroids are generally used 1~2 months after the symptoms began to improve, and then can be slowly reduced, about 90% of the patients improve, part of the complete remission, but easy to relapse. Dermatomyositis is a heterogeneous disease, it is recommended that the patient’s treatment process of regular review, and monitor the side effects of drugs, regular follow-up, standardized use of drugs under the guidance of the doctor.
