Can I have a normal birth with a tangled umbilical cord?

The principle of management of umbilical cord entanglement is to encourage normal labour and to deliver by caesarean section when appropriate. For pregnant women whose cord entanglement is detected before labour, doctors will first encourage a normal delivery if the following conditions are met.
The general condition of the foetus at the time of labour is good and there are no signs of intrauterine hypoxia.
The cervix is fully or almost fully opened and the fetal previa is normally in the pelvis.
If there is abnormal foetal heartbeat and intrauterine hypoxia during labour, which cannot be relieved by conservative treatment measures such as oxygen, change of position and medication, the doctor will promptly terminate the pregnancy by caesarean section.
