What are the symptoms of enlarged turbinates?

Hypertrophy of the turbinates is associated with nasal congestion, usually with severe symptoms, manifested by persistent open-mouth breathing and loss of smell; mucous or mucopurulent nasal discharge; coughing and phlegm; and frontal pain when the enlarged turbinates compress the nasal septum, with occasional episodes radiating to the bridge of the nose and orbits. It may also be accompanied by discomfort such as tinnitus.
