What is low temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation for turbinate hypertrophy?

This is a surgical procedure to treat enlarged turbinates by introducing plasma electrodes into the submucosa of the inferior turbinate to ablate the submucosal redundant tissue, which in turn causes the mucosa to adhere to the periosteum, decreasing the blood supply to the inferior turbinate and reducing the size of the inferior turbinate after the wound heals, thereby reducing the turbinate and improving ventilation.
