Enlarged turbinates first need to be treated according to their cause. If the symptoms are mild and insignificant, conservative treatment based on medication can be used. If the symptoms are severe and conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment is the mainstay and commonly used modalities include low-temperature plasma, radiofrequency, freezing, laser, microwave and surgery. In addition, turbinate hypertrophy due to severe deviation of the nasal septum is only effectively treated surgically.
