Why foot soaks are not recommended for broken feet

Whether or not you can soak your feet with a broken foot is related to whether or not the surgical incision has healed. It is generally recommended that you do not soak your feet until the surgical incision has healed. In the early postoperative period of foot fracture, as the surgical wound is sterile, foot soaking may cause bacteria in hot water to penetrate into the incision, leading to postoperative infection; on the other hand, the surgical incision is still in the stage of bleeding, soaking the feet will dilate the blood vessels and aggravate the bleeding of the wound. Therefore, foot soaking is not recommended for patients at this stage to avoid aggravating the condition. However, it should be noted that after the wound is completely healed, foot soaking can help promote local blood circulation and facilitate fracture healing. It is recommended that patients should consult a doctor in time if they have any uncomfortable symptoms, and choose an appropriate treatment plan under the doctor’s guidance after a clear diagnosis.
