The effect of surgery for brain metastasis of lung cancer depends on the specific situation. Generally speaking, the effect of surgery for single or small brain metastases is still good, otherwise surgery is not recommended.
If the number of brain metastases of lung cancer is large, patients are generally recommended to receive radiotherapy, which can effectively control or even eliminate the brain metastases, but after half a year of radiotherapy, recurrence of metastases is often easier.
Lung cancer with brain metastasis usually requires systemic treatment (such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy, etc.) and local radiotherapy. For brain lesions, radiotherapy is usually the main treatment, while chemotherapy is the main treatment for systemic lung cancer lesions.
The prognosis of patients can often be improved after 4 to 6 courses of treatment. However, if patients cannot tolerate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, or even brain metastasis recurs in a short period of time, then the prognosis is often poorer.
Lung cancer is more dangerous, and patients need to be treated under doctor’s guidance as early as possible.
