The main points usually selected for treating foot sprains with acupoints are Ah Yes point (the point where acidity, numbness, distension and pain are obvious), Qiu Hui, Shen Wei and Xie Xi, and the operation of acupuncture is usually adopted to effectively alleviate the symptoms of sprains.
The location of Ah Yes points is variable, mostly in the vicinity of the lesion, but can also be at a relatively long distance, and the points are usually chosen for the pain.
Qiu Hui is below the anterior aspect of the outer ankle, in the depression on the lateral aspect of the tendon of the extensor digitorum longus; Shen Wei is located on the lateral aspect of the foot, in the depression directly below the outer ankle; Xie Xi is in the depression in the middle of the transverse stripe on the dorsum of the foot and at the junction of the calf, between the tendon of the bunion and the tendon of the toenail.
