Advantages and disadvantages of cardiac balloon dilatation

Cardiac balloon dilatation is a minimally invasive interventional procedure in which a balloon is inserted into a predetermined area. The advantage of this procedure is that it is minimally invasive and minimally damaging, while the disadvantage is that it does not completely treat the cause of the disease. Taking coronary artery balloon dilatation as an example, when the coronary artery is narrowed, the balloon is moved to the narrowed area in a minimally invasive way, and the coronary artery is dilated. It can be used to treat coronary atherosclerosis. Moreover, using this method is less damaging to the patient and the patient recovers faster. However, the use of coronary balloon dilatation has its drawbacks. The balloon used is a foreign body in the body, which can lead to the aggregation of platelets and other substances, which may lead to re-stenosis. Also, balloon dilatation of blood vessels does not treat the cause of coronary atherosclerosis (excessive intravascular lipids), so the risk of recurrence is higher. It is recommended that patients with coronary atherosclerosis also take lipid-lowering medications to protect the blood vessels and reduce the risk of recurrence after balloon dilatation. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to go to the hospital for treatment.
