Edema after dialysis may be caused by insufficient dialysis, hypoproteinemia, thrombosis and other factors.
1. Inadequate dialysis: If the patient is not dialyzed sufficiently, there is still a large amount of water accumulated in the body, therefore, the patient still has edema after dialysis. It is necessary to limit salt and water intake, and at the same time increase the number of dialysis times or extend the dialysis time to remove excess water and metabolic wastes in the body and relieve the symptoms.
2. Hypoproteinemia: Patients with kidney disease usually lose too much albumin due to the reduced glomerular filtration capacity, and are in the state of hypoproteinemia for a long time. Even after dialysis, this state still can not be solved, so edema is still present after dialysis.
3. Thrombosis: Hemodialysis can be complicated by thrombosis and hypotension. If unilateral foot or leg swelling occurs, it should be considered to be related to lower extremity venous thrombosis, therefore, for deep vein catheter dialysis or artificial blood vessel dialysis, long-term anticoagulation is needed.
If edema still occurs after dialysis, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or therapy under the guidance of the doctor.
