Is high HDL cholesterol a problem?

The current clinical opinion is that elevated HDL cholesterol generally requires no specific treatment. Elevated HDL may be associated with genetic, alcohol abuse, hypothyroidism, phenytoin therapy, insulin therapy, and other causes. HDL has a role in transporting cholesterol and helping to metabolize it. It transports cholesterol from other parts of the body, such as the walls of blood vessels, to the liver for metabolism, which helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, and so an elevated HDL can be considered an anti-atherosclerotic factor and a protective factor. Once this indicator is lowered, be alert to the risk of cardiovascular disease, you can take appropriate medication to regulate lipids, while only high HDL, usually no special treatment is needed. When you find abnormalities in blood lipids in your body, please adjust your diet, go to the hospital in time for examination and treatment, follow the doctor’s instructions to regulate blood lipids, and do not take medication on your own.
