How long does it take to recover from an overhang surgery?

Recovery time after surgery for overhanging pharynx takes about 7 to 10 days. The clinical manifestations of this disease are mostly discomfort or foreign body sensation in the pharynx, and often nausea and vomiting, especially obvious when checking the pharynx and eating. When the mouth is opened wide and deep breathing is done (at this time, the soft palate is lifted and the pharyngeal isthmus is enlarged), the foreign body sensation may disappear, and then reappear after the mouth is closed. Patients also often have paroxysmal cough and voice changes, cough is more likely to occur when lying down, mostly due to the irritation of the posterior pharyngeal wall by the uvula. Generally, a mark will be made at the incision with vascular forceps, along which the excessively long part will be cut off; or the mucosal cut edge will be covered with suture of the muscle stump. The wound heals in about 7 days after surgery, and the edema subsides and the traumatic pseudomembrane falls off in about 10 days.
