Normally, deep overjet does not cause teeth grinding.
Deep overjet is usually caused by conditions such as underdevelopment of the jaws, abnormal development of the jaw shape, caries or destruction of the molar teeth, etc. It usually manifests itself in the form of abnormalities of the teeth, abnormal movement, and peculiar appearance of the face.
Teeth grinding is a chewing activity that occurs when the patient is not conscious, and it is an abnormal wear and tear condition on the teeth. It mostly occurs at night after sleep teeth grinding, knocking usually accompanied by sound. It is usually due to intestinal parasitism, oral diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, etc.
So far, there is no evidence that deep overjaw causes teeth grinding.
If deep overjet and teeth grinding are diagnosed, early and standardized treatment is recommended to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
