First of all, the family members of cancer patients should fully support and trust the patients psychologically and not lose the ability to take care of themselves because of cancer. We should fully trust that everyone has the instinct of self-healing and self-actualization. What we need to do is to give more affirmation and support. Secondly, at the early stage of the discovery of the disease, most patients will appear angry emotions, as family members should be able to understand the patient’s mood, and give more guidance and benign hints. What patients need most at this moment is the understanding and tolerance of their family members. The family members of cancer patients are not only the caregivers of the patients, but also play the role of “doctor’s assistant”. Studies have shown that the fears and concerns of family members of cancer patients are easily transmitted to patients, and patients are very sensitive to the expressions, attitudes and behaviors of their family members. Therefore, the first requirement for family members is to be calm and collected in front of the patient and to try to create and provide a good environment and spiritual support for the patient. Secondly, family members should understand some basic knowledge about cancer, such as cancer is not an infectious disease, nor is it an incurable disease, and as long as they adhere to regular treatment, the efficacy is often very good. When cancer patients are in pain and depressed, they should be comforted and thoughtful psychologically and taken care of carefully in life. When a patient has a loss of appetite, f heart and vomiting during radiotherapy or chemotherapy, family members should try to make some food that they usually like to eat but is rich in nutrition to increase physical fitness. Family members should also help medical staff to observe the changes in the patient’s condition, such as a decrease in white blood cells, resistance to decline, family members should discourage patients to go to public places less, so as to avoid cross-infection, aggravating the disease.
