Can cholangiocarcinoma be survived for a long time

If it is early stage cholangiocarcinoma or carcinoma in situ, patients can survive for a long time after surgery, and the 5-year survival rate can reach 70%. The survival of cholangiocarcinoma patients should be measured according to the patient’s own condition, the stage of cancer and the relevant clinical treatment plan. However, cholangiocarcinoma usually starts insidiously, and when the symptoms appear, it is usually considered to be in the middle or late stage, so the overall prognosis is not good and it is difficult to achieve long-term survival. However, if cholangiocarcinoma is found in early stage or even carcinoma in situ, the 5-year survival rate after surgery can reach 70%; in general, the average survival time of patients who have not been treated professionally is 3~4 months after clinical symptoms are manifested; in recent years, it has been reported that the median survival period of cholangiocarcinoma patients after relevant radiation therapy is 9~12 months, which can prolong the survival period of patients. It should be noted that cholangiocarcinoma patients can reduce the adverse effects of the disease through “early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment”, and it is recommended that patients establish confidence in treatment.
