Why are the toenails of the thumbs of the feet uneven with horizontal stripes?

The unevenness of the toenail of the thumb may be caused by long-term extrusion of the nail, trauma or nail fungus and other diseases.
1. Long-term extrusion of nails: Long-term compression of the feet can cause the nail bed to be underdeveloped, resulting in bumpy and uneven toenails with horizontal lines. This is a very common phenomenon and does not require special treatment.
2. Trauma: It is possible that the patient’s toes have been injured accidentally, and the nail bed or the root of the nail has been damaged, so the unevenness of the toenail with horizontal lines will appear.
3. Onychomycosis: caused by fungal infection of the toenail, it will cause discoloration and deformation of the toenail, which will eventually lead to uneven toenail with horizontal lines.
Bumpy toenails with horizontal lines may also be caused by other diseases, and patients are advised to go to the hospital immediately to avoid delaying their condition.
