The back is very sore during menstruation mainly for two reasons, as follows: First, pain caused by endothelial peeling during this menstrual period, which in turn involves the formation of pain in the lumbosacral region. Second, changes in hormone levels in the body during the special period lead to relaxation of the lumbar discs and ligaments around the lumbar spine, which can cause stretching of the ligaments on top of the original disc lesions, thus forming pain. For treatment, firstly, we should seek treatment from Chinese medicine department and take some oral medications for menstruation to reduce the symptoms of dysmenorrhea. Second, an MRI of the lumbar spine should be performed to determine whether there is a lesion in the lumbar intervertebral disc. Then, we should strengthen the muscles through daily exercise to eliminate the symptoms.
