Collection: What you need to know about psoriasis avoidance

Avoidance of food has a long history in Chinese culture, especially during the treatment of diseases, and patients often ask their doctors about avoidance of food, which modern medicine classifies as food intolerance. Food intolerance, which can also be called chronic food allergy, is a complex allergic disease. A nutritional laboratory in the UK has conducted a study of 2,567 British people suspected of having food intolerances and found that 44% of them had chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, ulcers, and indigestion; 16% had skin rashes, erythema, and itchy skin; 12% had migraines and insomnia; 10% suffered from asthma; and 7% had musculoskeletal symptoms joint pain. About 69% of these cases were chronic. A study of 56 patients with psoriasis tested for food intolerance found that only 5 of them tested negative for food intolerance, while the remaining 51 cases had varying degrees of food intolerance. 6 cases were positive for 5 or more foods, 27 cases were positive for 3 or 4 foods, and 18 cases were positive for 1 or 2 foods. The 20 common food intolerances in the order of positivity were: crab, shrimp, mushroom, soybean, peanut, red pepper, buckwheat, tomato, beef, egg (egg white/yolk), milk, cod, mango, corn, rice, wheat, peach, brewer’s yeast, garlic, and banana. The causes of psoriasis are complex, and it is now mostly believed that the occurrence of psoriasis is closely related to immune abnormalities. Modern medical theory believes that IgG antibodies can combine with food molecules in the body to form immune complexes, thus acting on the body’s immune system and having certain effects on the physiology and biochemistry of the body, secondary to increased blood pressure, expansion of blood vessel walls and cholesterol deposition, leading to edema and obesity, while immune system overload can also cause various systems in the body to The immune system overload can also cause a series of symptoms and diseases in various systems of the body. Therefore, it is believed that food intolerance is closely related to human immunology. According to foreign statistics, up to 45% of the population has different degrees of intolerance to certain foods. The positive rate of food intolerance testing in psoriasis patients is as high as 91%, which is significantly higher than the positive rate of food intolerance in the normal population reported abroad. What exactly are the “hairy items” that need to be avoided in psoriasis? The avoidance of hairy substances is of great importance in dietary health and dietary treatment, not only in psoriasis, but also in the treatment of many diseases. What exactly are hairy substances? The so-called hairy items are foods that can cause old illnesses to recur and new ones to worsen after ingestion. Chinese medicine will be classified as “avoid” inappropriate food. Chinese medicine can not be separated from the diagnosis and treatment of disease, so the Chinese medicine taboo can not be separated from the cold and hot deficiency, such as cold disease, avoid cold and cold food, hot evidence, avoid dry and warm food. Western medicine also has inappropriate food, such as diabetes avoid sugar food, hypertension avoid salt food, etc.. From this point of view, both Chinese and Western doctors have noticed that certain foods are incompatible with certain diseases. So, what are the hair products of psoriasis? Chinese medicine identifies that some psoriasis belong to heat evidence and some belong to cold evidence. If a patient with hot evidence consumes warm mutton, shrimp, beef, etc., it will make the heat more intense, increase the redness of the rash, expand the lesions and worsen the itching, then these foods can be called hair products for those with hot evidence. The same can be inferred from the hair products for patients with cold symptoms, including foods with cold nature such as duck, river crab and bitter melon. It should be added that some studies have confirmed that psoriasis rashes contain more than 20 times more arachidonic acid than normal people, which is metabolized into leukotrienes and is an important inflammatory substance in rashes. And beef, lamb and other foods are rich in arachidonic acid, therefore, all psoriasis patients should abstain from beef and lamb to avoid aggravation of psoriasis lesions.
