  Breast cancer, the most common cancer in women worldwide, is getting younger and younger. The Health Care Commission announced the latest top 10 causes of death in China in 2018, and cancer has been the top of the list for 36 years, among which female breast cancer ranks among the top four cancers and is one of the diseases that should not be ignored.  When breast cancer develops, it is not like a silent liver disease; the early signs of breast cancer are traceable in the breast. Early detection of breast cancer symptoms through breast self-examination can help women better avoid the danger.  Early detection of abnormalities through breast self-examination can not only improve the survival rate, but also have better treatment effect. Therefore, regular self-examinations should be conducted to detect breast cancer signs early.  Before self-examination, you should press your five fingers together with your finger belly, with the sternum as the middle line, and press the lower border of the clavicle, the armpit and the lower border of the rib cage.  1, look at the hands relaxed natural hanging, observe whether the two sides of the breast symmetry, the presence of abnormal lumps, skin depressions, red rash. The skin is sunken, orange-peeled, and may be red, swollen, and ulcerated. The nipples are sunken and there is abnormal discharge. Dilation and protrusion of venous vessels. 2, feel a touch lift the upper arm, the nipple as the center point, with the fingertips in the direction of the clock touch the breast, from the inside out feel three to four circles; the other side of the same way.  3.Lying down and touching in a lying position, put a pillow under your shoulder, put one hand under your head and check your breasts with the other hand, in addition to your breasts, you should also check if your underarm lymph is enlarged; the same way on the other side.  4, squeeze a squeeze finally with the thumb and index finger squeeze bilateral nipples, check whether there is abnormal discharge. Is breast cancer when breast lumps are felt during the examination? During self-examination, if you feel a lump, you may be afraid that you have cancer. However, don’t worry too much because 90 percent of lumps are benign. Although they are benign tumors, they still need further medical diagnosis and regular follow-up. If the lump is getting bigger or more numerous, it may deteriorate to cancer.  How often should I do breast self-examination?  Breast self-examinations are best done once a month and should be done at the same time. Women who have not stopped menstruating: It is recommended to do the examination about 3 or 4 days after the end of each period. At this time, the hormones in the body are lower and the test results are more accurate. If done before menstruation, due to high hormones in the body, there is a possibility of swelling or sensitivity in the breasts, which may affect the test results. Women who have reached menopause and women who are pregnant: Breast self-examination is done on a fixed day every month.  The purpose of breast self-examination is to detect “changes” rather than “self-diagnosis”. Don’t feel that you don’t need to undergo professional examinations and regular screenings just because your normal breast self-examinations are normal.
