Adverse effects of streptomycin

Streptomycin is a classic anti-tuberculosis drug, once commonly used in anti-tuberculosis treatment, but it has serious adverse reactions, mainly in the following aspects: 1, ototoxicity occurs more often, patients appear dizziness, unstable gait, deafness, hearing loss; 2, renal function damage, proteinuria, tubular urine, and even renal function damage; 3, allergic reactions, although occurring relatively rarely, but quite serious, often manifested as anaphylactic shock, and the mortality rate is quite high if the resuscitation is not timely; 4, large and painful irritation at the injection site. At present, streptomycin is less used in anti-tuberculosis treatment, and can be replaced by other convenient and effective drugs.
