Simple sinus arrhythmia in middle-aged and old people generally does not require special treatment. If it is caused by heart disease or combined with severe sinus bradycardia, targeted treatment, such as medication and surgery, should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor.
1. Simple sinus arrhythmia: simple sinus arrhythmia generally has no important clinical significance, and if there is no discomfort, most do not need treatment; it is recommended to pay attention to rest, to ensure adequate sleep, to avoid staying up late, overwork.
2. Heart disease: if sinus arrhythmia is caused by coronary heart disease, commonly used drugs include nitroglycerin and other nitrate preparations, aspirin and other antithrombotic drugs, metoprolol and other beta-blockers, nifedipine and other calcium channel blockers; patients with severe coronary heart disease can also be treated with interventional therapy or surgery.
3. Combined with severe sinus bradycardia: M-blockers (e.g., atropine), β-adrenergic receptor stimulants (e.g., isoproterenol), and other drugs may be given to increase the heart rate; if the slow heart rate is significant with related symptoms, surgical placement of a pacemaker may be considered.
Sinus arrhythmia in middle-aged and elderly people should be further investigated to find out the cause, and be given targeted treatment by doctors, do not blindly self-medication.
