The “sense of qi”, also known as the “sense of needle”, refers to the needling site to obtain a certain meridian qi sensation, the sense of qi has great significance in acupuncture treatment, a variety of factors can affect the qi. Whether or not qi is obtained in acupuncture treatment is closely related to whether or not acupuncture treatment is effective. When there is a sense of obtaining qi or when qi is obtained rapidly, the general effect is better or the effect is quicker; when there is no sense of obtaining qi or when qi is obtained slower, the effect is not therapeutic or the effect is slower. The patient’s physical condition, the positioning of acupuncture points and the acupuncture technique can all affect the feeling of gaining qi.
