The causes of leukemia are complex and may be related to genetic mutation, exposure to harmful substances, and other factors.
1. Genetic factors or gene mutations: Mutations in certain genes in hematopoietic cells caused by various reasons, which activate signaling pathways, leading to proliferation of clonal abnormal hematopoietic cells and leukemia.
2. Exposure to harmful substances: Exposure to certain harmful substances will increase the risk of leukemia. For example, exposure to certain chemotherapy drugs such as methylbenzylhydrazine, prolonged exposure to radiation, prolonged exposure to benzene and other pollutants may damage the human hematopoietic system and increase the incidence of leukemia.
3. Other factors: some blood diseases may deteriorate and progress to leukemia, such as myelodysplastic syndrome; smoking, alcoholism, drug abuse, poor work and rest, long-term hair coloring and other bad habits may also increase the risk of leukemia.
Disease-specific diagnosis and treatment should be made under the supervision of a physician.
