A seven-year-old child’s visual acuity should be around 1.0. Usually, children 7 years old and older should have a visual acuity of around 1.0, which is considered normal. If a child’s vision is significantly lower than this, or if there is a difference of more than two lines in the vision of both eyes, he or she needs to go to the hospital for a vision and refraction examination. If myopia is present, a pair of myopic glasses should be worn all day long, i.e., except for washing the face, bathing, and sleeping, so as to avoid the deepening of myopia. If your myopia is still increasing by more than 75 degrees per year with glasses, you will need to use low concentration atropine or keratoplasty lenses to slow down the growth of your myopia. If there is hyperopia, especially high hyperopia, which also affects vision, this type of hyperopia also requires farsighted glasses. If there is a combination of amblyopia, additional amblyopia training and treatment will be needed to fully improve vision.
