Eight cases of traumatic aortic type B coarctation treated intraluminally.

[Abstract] Objective To investigate the imaging characteristics of traumatic Stanford type B aortic coarctation and the efficacy of applying endoluminal repair (TEVAR) to its treatment. Methods The clinical data and follow-up data of 8 patients with traumatic Stanford type B aortic coarctation treated by TEVAR from January 2010 to October 2012 in the Department of Vascular and Endoluminal Vascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were retrospectively analyzed. Results Eight patients with aortic coarctation had lesions confined to the descending aorta, six with combined rib fractures, two with thoracic vertebral fractures, and one with combined paraplegia among the patients with thoracic vertebral fractures. eight patients were successfully treated with TEVAR. one case was lost, and seven patients were followed up from 6 months to 2 years with no adverse events. Conclusion In traumatic Stanford B type aortic coarctation, the vessels are mostly limited and have a single irregular rupture. TEVAR treatment can completely cover the coarctation rupture with a clear efficacy and a safe and simple procedure.
